TEHRAN – Iran defeated Japan in the 2018 FIBA U18 Asian Championship on Tuesday to advance to the competition’s quarter-final.

The Iranian team, who have defeated Indonesia 80-50 and Kazakhstan 86-54, earned their third win a row beating Japan 71-64.

Behshad Arabzadeh led Iran 14 points and Japan’s Keijiro Mitani scored seven points.

The 2018 FIBA Under 18 Asian Championship is being held in Nonthaburi, Thailand from August 5 to 11.

The top four teams will qualify and will represent FIBA Asia in the 2019 FIBA Under 19 Basketball World Cup.
