Leader's Guidelines, Beacon of Guidance Toward Better Future
October 7, 2000 - 0:0
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei once more reminded the nation that discord is a social malady that should be cured as soon as possible. Addressing a huge crowd of local people in the holy city of Qom on Thursday, the Leader also asked the officials of the three branches of the government -- Executive, Judiciary and Legislative -- to join hands to fight poverty, corruption and discrimination in society.
On ways to overcome discord and achieve unity, the Ayatollah said that the political factions and groups should adopt basic principles of the system, constitution, the late Imam Khomeini's path, public interests and confrontation against enemies of the nation as bases for unity. The Leader, however, noted that the current differences among political groups are minor, but are magnified through hue and cry of certain elements. He suggested a dialogue between factions to remove the differences over the points under dispute.
Ayatollah Khamenei further reminded the officials that the people's path is the path of God, Islam, revolution and the late Imam Khomeini, stressing that the people do not pay attention to artificial groupings. This is not the first time that the Leader has offered guidelines to the nation, as he has done so whenever he has felt some groups or factions are deviating from the original path of revolution and its ideals. Unfortunately, some political elements or groups in the country are sacrificing unity, security and national interests for some political objectives.
This was also what the Leader strongly warned against in his address on Thursday. Acting upon the Leader's guidelines, the different political groups and factions should remove their differences of opinion by holding direct talks and join hands to fight poverty, corruption and discrimination in society.
