United Islamic action needed to confront Israel’s reckless behavior: Iran parliament speaker

TEHRAN – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said coordinated and united action by the Islamic world is the only effective way to counter the reckless behavior of the Zionist regime.
His remarks came in a message to the Speaker of the Qatari Shura Council following Israel’s Tuesday airstrikes on Hamas leadership headquarters in Doha.
Qalibaf condemned the attack as a "blatant crime, a violation of international law, and a clear act of state terrorism", stressing that it had provoked the anger and indignation of the Iranian people and their representatives in the Islamic Consultative Assembly.
He affirmed that Iran stands firmly with its Qatari and Palestinian brothers, denouncing the criminal assault on Doha’s urban areas and on the civilian guests of the Qatari government.
On behalf of the Iranian Parliament, Qalibaf extended condolences over the martyrdom of Palestinian and Qatari citizens in the attack and wished a swift recovery for those injured.
Calling the incident a clear demonstration of the "inhumane and anti-human rights nature of the Zionist regime", he accused Israel of perpetuating violence, crises, and instability in the region with the backing of Western powers.
Qalibaf reiterated that the Iranian Parliament is fully prepared to strengthen cooperation with Qatar in countering Israel’s threats to regional peace and security.
In remarks he later made on X, Qalibaf said the Israeli attacks on Doha showed Washington's security guarantees "mean nothing". Israel's latest aggression shook political and ruling circles in the Arab world, particularly Persian Gulf Arab states that seemed to believe hosting American military bases and investing large amounts of money in the U.S. economy would insulate them from Israel's spreading violence.
Qatar hosts the largest American base in West Asia. Earlier this year, the kingdom sought to strengthen its relationship with Washington by offering record investments in the U.S. economy during President Donald Trump's visit to the region.
The White House said it was not aware Israel was planning to strike Doha, an assertion that has been rejected by analysts around the world. Some unverified reports suggest American refueling aircraft supported the Israeli Air Force's refueling efforts on Tuesday.
