Riots were intended to disrupt peace and stability in Iran: Turkish president
TEHRAN - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reacted to the recent riots in Iran, unashamedly instigated by US President Donald Trump and the Israeli regime.
Erdogan said Iran has, following the Israeli military aggression against the country back in June, faced a fresh challenge, which has targeted Iran’s peace and social stability.
He underlined that Turkey believes Iran will overcome these acts of betrayal and evil deeds through a prudent policy with a primary focus on dialogue and diplomacy.
Recently, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also reacted to US and Israeli threats against Iran, saying whatever happens in Iran matters to Turkey, and that Ankara closely follows developments in Iran.
In recent days, the enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran provoked riots in the country through their provocations and trained operatives and mercenaries. The armed rioters vandalized public property, triggered terror, and killed over 100 security forces as well as ordinary people by hijacking peaceful protests by a number of business owners over the depreciation of the national currency and rising prices.
Accordingly, Iranian security forces firmly dealt with rioters and foreign-backed insurgents, making numerous arrests.
In a recent operation, security forces arrested many individuals and confiscated various types of lethal weapons intended for use against civilians and government facilities.
The detainees are charged with a wide range of crimes, including the “shedding of innocent blood” and the “destruction of holy places.”
The operatives had been tasked by foreign agencies to carry out targeted assassinations of elite figures, stir ethnic division, and sabotage vital infrastructure such as water, electricity, gas, and oil pipelines.
