Conference on Iqbal Held

TEHRAN A conference entitled "Iqbal and the Challenges of Modern Times" was jointly organized by the Cultural Coordination Department of the Foreign Ministry and the Embassy of Pakistan here yesterday in the Institute for Political and International Studies.

Pakistani Ambassador Javid Husain delivered the inaugural speech of the conference and then Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Research and Training Affairs Sadeq Kharrazi addressed the ceremony and gave a speech entitled "Iqbal and his Ideal".

Muhammad Soheyl Umar, the director of the Iqbal Academy, gave a lecture entitled "Modern Times and Its Challenges". Mohammad Baqi Makan, Reza Shaibani and Seyed Mohammad Taqi Tayyeb gave lectures entitled "Iqbal's Ideal Political System", "The Historical Significance of Iqbal's Poetry" and "Iqbal's Political Disposition"

ECO representative Mahmoud Boroujerdi and Deputy Minister of Culture and Chairman of the National Language Authority Fateh Mohammad Malik also attended the conference.
