TEHRAN The president of the Azeri National Independence Party said that his party would not allow the signing of any agreement running counter to national interests of Azerbaijan Republic.

Speaking in an interview with the Baku-based daily ***Zaman*** , Etebar Mohammadev added that resolving the Karabakh conflict is possible only by relying on the political and military power of Azerbaijan Republic.

He said Russia and the U.S. try to promote their interests in the region by exploiting the Karabakh conflict.

During the interview, Mohammadev expressed his opposition to the establishment of foreign military bases in Azerbaijan Republic. He stressed that it is the duty of Azeri soldiers to defend Azerbaijan, adding that the presence of Nato forces in that republic would only escalate tension in the region.
