Regional Information Conference to Be Held in Tehran

TEHRAN A regional conference entitled "Central-Western Asian Countries and the Information Society" will be held in Tehran starting September 3.

UNESCO's National Commission in Iran is sponsoring the conference, with the support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and with the cooperation of Allameh Tabatabaei University and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

The information society and the process of globalization, people's right to have access to information, intellectual property rights, and cultural, moral and legal issues of the information age are among the subjects scheduled to be discussed in the conference.

Other subjects to be scheduled for discussion in the conference are electronic communication and issues related to national security and the information society, the variety of cultures and languages and dialogue among civilizations.
