Amateur Boxing Not Dangerous: Karimi
Mohammad Karimi talking to IRNA added, "The Medical Committee of International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that the injuries caused by Olympic-style and amateur boxing has been considerably reduced and the new rules have guaranteed the nonprofessional boxers' health."
He pointed out, "Since boxing has been reactivated in the country, the Iranian amateur pugilists competing inside and outside the country have faced no serious injury while we have witnessed unexpected injuries of sportsmen involving in other fields."
The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Iran has approved the Olympic-style amateur boxing in terms of safety, continued Karimi.
Speaking about the status of boxing in Fars Province, the head of Boxing Board said, "Due to lack of allocated budget, we have faced great problems concerning implementation of different plans but in collaboration with the athletes and officials we are trying to hold training courses and competitions."
The youths' contests of Fars Province will be held in boxing gym of Marvdasht on July 12-13 during which the top provincial boxers will be picked for participation in the nationwide contests, concluded Karimi.
