TEHRAN The High Advisor at the Oil Ministry, Fereidoun Batmanqlich, said that public participation will help the oil industry take a giant economic, industrial and technological leap forward over the next five years.

He believes that changing the managers quickly over the short term is one of the mistakes of Iran's management system. "The consistency of the management is an effective factor in the success of the participation system," he said.

"Unfortunately, we do not know how to reach a consensus and we will attain nothing by giving advice and repeating the slogans about not wasting water, power and fuel," Batmanqlich said.

He added that, according to the approval of the deputies council of the Oil Ministry, all the companies and affiliated bodies are required to use the participation system.

"We should think about every problem and obstacle and find a better solution. Fortunately, the petrochemical complexes began using the participation system five years ago, and we have received 12,000 suggestions up to last October, which have saved the industry 85 billion rials," he added.

The director of the East Azarbaijan National Oil Products Company, Davoud Panahi, said, "Today, the most important problem of Islamic societies is the lack of a suitable management system based on logic, the Sharia and the people's needs."

Panahi added that allowing people to participate and offer their criticism would bring people out of isolation and would make them more attached to the organization and would increase efficiency.

"If we accept that the most important problem is lack of order in the management system, then we should agree that in the fields of thought and reasoning, we are facing many problems," he continued.
