TEHRAN A large earthen dam, to be called the Qoushqiyeh Dam, will be constructed on the Leilan Chai River of Malekan town.

"The earthen dam will supply water to more than 6800 hectares of Malekan's farms," the Leilan district governor said.

He said that the construction of the dam will create a lake 10 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide with a capacity of 60 million cubic meters of water.

Preliminary construction operations have already begun. According to experts, 20 billion rials is needed to complete construction of the Qoushqiyeh Dam. The feasibility study cost Rls.860 million.
