DUBLIN -- Voting in the Irish general election got underway at 7:30 am (0630 GMT) on Friday, with voters expected to return Bertie Ahern's centrist government for a second term. Ahern's personal popularity and economic success means his victory is all but guaranteed. The only question is whether he will have to form another coalition, or whether this time his Fianna fail party will be able to govern on its own, AFP reported. The last available opinion poll, published on Wednesday, showed Fianna fail on the brink of securing its first overall majority in 25 years, thanks to the deftness with which Ahern has nursed his minority coalition administration through five years in office.
