Qatari calligraphy works on display in Iran

TEHRAN -- An exhibition of calligraphy works by Qatari university professors Saeed al-Ansari and Imad ad-Din Umran is currently underway at the Rezvan Gallery in Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province, Astan-e Qods Razavi announced on Monday.
Entitled “The Practice of Love”, the exhibition features calligraphy works in naskh, roq’ei and sols (styles) as well as some calligraphy-paintings on the theme of the Holy Quran and hadith.
The professors discussed the evolution of Arabic script, the difference between Persian and Arabic calligraphy, the influence of nastaliq on Arabic script, and the calligraphy teaching techniques used in Qatar during the opening ceremony of the event.
The exhibition, which runs until June 22, has been organized by the Astan-e Qods Razavi Artistic Creations Foundation with the aim of developing relations and interactions between artists from Mashhad and calligraphy masters inside and outside of Iran.
