Iran’s auto manufacturers produce over 1m light, heavy vehicles

TEHRAN – Over 1,004,000 light and heavy vehicles were produced in the past year (Iranian year ended March 20).

The nation’s auto manufacturing plants produced 839,031 passenger cars, 125,203 pick-up trucks, 32,169 trucks, 2,396 buses, 1,104 minibuses and 3,817 four-wheel drive sport-utility vehicles (SUVs), the Ministry of Industries and Mines said in a statement on Wednesday.

Passenger car producing plants Pride, Peugeot 405, Peugeot RD, Peugeot 206 and Samand, respectively producing 247,981, 136,749, 90,993, 72,084 and 65,514 were the nation’s top major auto producers last year.

Overall, production of the pick-up trucks, trucks and passenger cars increased by 81 percent, 13 percent and six percent, respectively, the report further explained.
