Haddad-Adel reelected speaker
Haddad-Adel took 150 votes out of a total of 257, while his closest rival, Hassan Sobhani, from Damghan obtained 97 votes.
In last year's voting for the post, Haddad-Adel obtained 160 out of a total of 255, while in the previous year he took 266 out of a total of 226.
Members of the new Presiding Board of the Majlis were also sworn in on Wednesday without changes, IRNA reported.
The constitution of the new board is the same as the previous one and includes Haddad-Adel, Mohammad-Reza Bahonar and Mohammad-Hassan Abutorabi as first and second vice-speakers, respectively, as well as six secretaries and three clerks.
Members of the new board are all from the Majlis majority faction.
MP Akbar A’lami told reporters after the vote that the result of the elections showed that the popularity of the Majlis presiding board has taken a hit.
Majlis Unity and Efficiency Faction spokesman Reza Talaii-Nik also told reporters that the votes show the presiding board enjoys relative success among MPs.
