Joint seminar to discuss trademarks, intl. registration

TEHRAN (IRNA) -- The bureau in charge of registration of companies and industrial ownership of Iran's Organization of Deeds and Registration of Real Estates and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) plan to hold a joint seminar in Tehran.

A statement released by the Public Relations Department of Iran's Organization of Deeds and Registration of Real Estates on Saturday said that the two-day seminar (December 11-12) will be held at Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines in Tehran.

Trade marks, Madrid System, international registration of trade marks and geographical signs will be on the agenda of the upcoming event.

Meanwhile, the legal structure of trade marks and recent advancement in their registration within the framework of Madrid System and that of geographical signs in Iran, significance of trade marks in the world trade and international support for them will be discussed during the seminar.

"Geographical signs and their connection with trademark designs, supporting Iranian hand-woven carpet industry based on geographical signs, and the effective role of Madrid System will also be on the agenda of the seminar," added the report.
