Correction of 38th IPhO written tests is over

TEHRAN -- The process of correcting the written tests of the 38th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) which took place in Isfahan ended yesterday.

Practical tests are still underway and the overall winners will be announced after the results of both tests have been combined. Farhang Loran, Saman Moqimi, Reza Asgari, Nima Hamedani-Raja, Omid Akhavan, and Shermin Kharrazi are among the members of the Olympiad’s scientific committee which is headed by Reza Ejtehadi. Unfortunately, the founder and president of IPhO, Professor Waldemar Gorzkowski who was visiting Isfahan with his wife passed away on Sunday in his hotel room due to heart failure. His wife disclosed that the professor had experienced a previous heart attack several years ago. It is expected that a forensic team from Poland will travel to Iran to examine the case and confirm the cause of the professor’s death, said Dr. Fuladi, head of the medical team in Isfahan
