TEHRAN -- Tehran’s Saba Art and Cultural Institute is currently holding two exhibits of modern paintings by Georgian and Iranian artists.
At the opening ceremony on Tuesday, Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Art Rector Gia Bugadze said, “It is impossible for someone to travel to Iran and not fall in love with its culture and civilization.“We would like to boost our cultural ties, and I hope we will exchange students in the future as well.”
Iranian Academy of Arts Director Bahman Namvar-Motlaq told participants at the opening ceremony, “We are celebrating two occasions today, the two exhibits of modern paintings from Georgia and Iran.”
He added, “Iranian art emerged before Islam and continued after the advent of Islam. When we examine Georgian art, the influence of Iranian art is clearly observed. We can easily notice part of our Iranian art in the exhibit of Georgia’s modern painting.”
Saba Institute Director Mohsen Zare’, Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art Curator Habibollah Sadeqi, and veteran painters Mansureh Hosseini, Ahmad Esfandiari, and Parviz Kalantari also participated in the opening ceremony of the two exhibits.
