Sadabad museum hosting Persian nomad carpets show

TEHRAN -- Tehran’s Sadabad Palace Museum is currently hosting the 4th festival of Persian nomad carpets.
Over 3600 square meters of carpets will be on display at the Fine Arts Museum of Tehran’s Sadabad Palace Museum until July 10.In addition, a collection of rare Iranian carpets is also displayed on the side section of the show exhibiting treasured carpets and includes works by master Qarehbaghi, said head of the organizing committee Saeid Mohammadzadeh Akbari.
Over twenty veteran masters of carpet weaving from the different cities of Isfahan, Tabriz, Qom, and Naiin, which are all famous for their high-quality carpets, have put their latest productions on display, he added.
The festival is arranged to introduce traditional Iranian culture as well as the tradition and customs of Persian nomads.
“Several masters of carpet-weaving will be present at the show during the time of the exhibit and will provide the opportunity for the visitors to become more familiar with this priceless art and its masters,” he added.
An exhibition of nomad’s black tents, their traditional food, as well as several workshops is also set up on the side section of the exhibit, Akbari said, adding that a team of scholars and researchers will be selecting the best works on display and that several prizes would also be awarded to the best artworks at the end of the show.
