TEHRAN -- The book “Baba Nazar” will appear on bookshelves soon along with a CD containing selected narrations by actor Parviz Parastuii from the book.
“Baba Nazar” features the memoirs of martyr Mohammad-Hassan Nazarnejad describing his active presence on the Iran-Iraq war fronts. The book ran into its 20th edition within four months. Its latest edition will be coming out in 439 pages among which several pictures are also interspersed
The CD features a documentary in which actor Parastuii talks about how he got to know the book, its main character Baba Nazar, and the feelings that came over him upon reading it.
“I read this book and I felt as if I was watching a film in which Baba Nazar and (martyrs) Sharifi and Qalibaf were the actors and its director was God,” says Parastuii.
“When Baba Nazar leaves his fort and shoots a partridge to eat, I can feel how hungry he was to do so. He was never sought after a promotion, a good job or a high position,” he adds.
Mohammad-Hassan Nazarnejad was a war veteran and the book is the outcome of 36 hours of interviews Hossein Beizaii did with him in the years 1995 and 1996.
Nazarnejad began his revolutionary activities before the Islamic Revolution. He headed to the war fronts in the early days of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.
He was in different regions for over 140 months. He lost his left eye and ear in Bostan in Khuzestan, mainly known for its battles during the war. His back was broken in Fakkeh in southern Iran. The chemical gas hurt his lungs and when the war was over, his strong body that was once a champion of Khorasan was filled with shrapnel wounds.
He died on July 29, 1996 in Kafarestan heights in the Kordestan region.
