Hungarian museum publishes book on Qajar era art

TEHRAN -- The Ferenc Hopp Museum of East Asian Art in Budapest has recently published a book on Persian art during the Qajar era (1796-1925).

Entitled “Artists’ Turning Point, Iranian Art in the Qajar Era”, the book is published in collaboration with the Iranian Academy of Arts.
The academy proposed that the Ferenc Hopp Museum of East Asian Art display those Iranian artworks which were kept in the storehouse of the museum during an exhibition last year.
The book which is about the exhibition that displayed artworks created during the Qajar era has two parts. The first part consists of 18 articles published by Orientalists and Islamic art experts.
The second part is an album of pictures taken of existing artworks at the museum and includes manuscripts, paintings, book covers, carpets, textiles, jewelries and several other items.
Renowned scholar and Orientalist Geza Fehérvári has penned an introduction to the book.
The book will be translated into Persian by the Iranian Academy of Arts in the near future.
