TEHRAN – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has said that regional nations will no longer yield to global hegemons, emphasizing democracy will prevail in the Middle East.
Larijani made the remarks during a meeting with visiting South Korea’s Chief Justice Lee Yong-hoon on Wednesday.“The current situation facing the Middle East is the consequence of global powers’ double-standard and adventuristic policies on the region,” the senior lawmaker said. “These powers are still unable to realize the realities of the region.”
On Western countries’ claims about the situation of human rights in Iran, he said that they use the issue of human rights as pretext to take hostile actions toward the Iranian nation.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani called for expansion of relations between Iran and South Korea.
Lee Yong-hoon said that his country is keen to strengthen its friendly relationship with Iran.
He also said that the era of superpowers’ supremacy in the region has come to an end. “Today it is the people who choose the rulers.”
