TEHRAN -- The Tehran Symphony Orchestra performed a number of musical selections from the sound tracks of several of the world’s most acclaimed movies during a concert at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on Saturday.

The music composed for “The Godfather”, “Gladiator”, “Mulan”, “Out of Africa”, “Romeo and Juliet” (1968) and several other famous films was performed by the orchestra, which was led by guest conductor Shahdad Rohani.
The orchestra also performed the music of “The Message”, a biopic on the Prophet Muhammad (S), which was directed by Moustapha Akkad in 1976.
Symphonies composed by Richard Strauss, Paul Dukas, Victor Young, Alfred Newman, John Barry, Nino Rota, John Stafford Smith and Hans Zimmer were also in the orchestra’s repertoire.
Every performance by the orchestra received thunderous applause from the audience, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Sunday.
“I feel great that I’m in Iran again, accompanying the Tehran Symphony Orchestra,” U.S.-based Iranian prominent musician Rohani told the audience before the concert.
The orchestra will be reprising their performances tonight. It also will perform the concert at Tehran’s Milad Tower on Tuesday.
