TEHRAN -- The representative of Iraqi religious leader Ayatollah Ali Sistani to Iran on Thursday appreciated Iran's support for the Iraqi government and nation in the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Hojjatoleslam Seyed Javad Shahrestani said that the support of the Iranian nation for Iraq and the assistance of the Almighty God have changed the situation to the benefit of Iraq.

He also noted that the Islamic world is in dire need of unity and that Muslims have to avoid any kind of discord.
