TEHRAN The London-based Guardian daily on Thursday published a review of the Iranian film Seeb (Apple) by Samira Makhmalbaf. In this review, the daily said that the recent work of Samira Makhmalbaf is one of the newest films of the year. Hailing the 18-year-old Iranian director, Guardian said that Seeb treads a path between a documentary report and a narrative picture.
According to the Guardian, at a time when the two little girls, after several years of imprisonment in their father's home, enter the outside world, it is not clear whether Makhmalbaf has filmed their real reaction towards the world outside their home or such a reaction has been dictated to them by the director. The daily also said it is not clear whether the two girls are real characters or merely actresses in this film, adding that the presence of the two little girls in Seeb is praiseworthy.
The film Seeb, directed by Samira Makhmalbaf, the daughter of the famous Iranian film director Mohsen Makhmalbaf, has so far been screened in several international festivals and has won special international prizes. Currently, the British Company Artificial Eye is screening Seeb in two cinemas in London.
