Hamavayan to tour Iran

TEHRAN – World-renowned Iranian ensemble Hamavayan led by tar and setar virtuoso Hossein Alizadeh plans to begin its Iranian tour with performances at Tehran’s Milad Tower on December 28 and 29.

Vocalist Mohammad Motamedi will accompany the group, which will then leave Tehran to perform in Shiraz on December 31 and January 1, Alizadeh said during a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday.

Hamedan will host Hamavayan on January 4 and 5, and the group’s next stop will be in Rasht for two performances on January 7 and 8.

Concertgoers in Yazd will be visited by Hamavayan on January 11 and 12, and the band will pursue its performances in Isfahan on January 14 and in Shahrekord on January 15,

Hamavayan’s closing program will be performed in the northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz on January 18 and 19.

The group also features Pejamn Haddadi on percussion, Sina Jahanabadi and Saba Alizadeh on kamancheh, Ali Bustan on shurangiz, Siamak Jahangiri on ney, Negar Buban on oud, Siavash Borhani on tar, Radman Tavakkoli on bass-tar, Sahar Ebrahimi on qanun, Majid Anshani on qeichak and Sina Khoshkbijari on tombak.

The ensemble along with vocalist Alireza Qorbani previously performed a concert at the Cologne Philharmonic Hall in Germany on November 1.
