TEHRAN – A selection of faceless portraits resembling some world-renowned political leaders such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Queen Elizabeth painted on pieces of mirror frames by the Ireland-based Iranian artist Roxana Manuchehri is on display in an exhibition at Tehran’s Asar Gallery.

The visitors will have the chance to watch their own faces in the mirrors and for a second be able to feel like a queen or a king by looking at the portraits.

“The idea of the exhibit is rooted in my personal interest in collecting old photos of world kings and queens,” Manuchehri said at the opening ceremony of her exhibition on Monday.

She has also invented a new type of mapping and map-reading in two of her works on display. Each different shape with a different color resembles one country on display.

Gold is the symbol of ultimate power in her works and that is why she has named her exhibit “From the Gold Land”.

The exhibit will be running until May 6 in the gallery located at 16 Barforushan St., off Iranshahr St.
