Zob Ahan of Isfahan football team claimed Iran’s Hazfi Cup on Sunday for the second time in a row.

Zob Ahan beat Esteghlal in penalty shootout 5-4 in Khorramshahr’s Nafto Gaz Stadium after the game finished 1-1 after 120 minutes

Danial Esmaeilifar’s strike deflected into the net in the 20th minute but Omid Ebrahimi scored from the penalty spot in the 56th minute to equalize the match.

“I am so happy with the way my players played against Esteghlal. Zob Ahan players were tired since they had played Al Ain twice in a week. I think we deserve to win the title,” Zob Ahan coach Yahya Golmohammadi said in the post-match news conference.

Zob Ahan won Hazfi Cup for the fourth time.

The Isfahan based team had defeated Naft Tehran last year.

Esteghlal tops the table with six cups and its arch rival Persepolis has won the cup five times.
