Niger says ready to open embassy in Tehran

TEHRAN – Ibrahim Yacouba, Niger’s foreign minister, held talks in Tehran on Monday with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, saying his country is ready to open embassy in Tehran and hold more political dialogue and consultations with Iran.

He also called on Iran to hold a joint economic committee meeting with Niger as soon as possible.

Yacouba also invited the Iranian foreign minister to visit Niger.

Zarif also said Iran is ready to expand relations and cooperation with Niger in various areas.

“Iran and Niger can have closer cooperation in various political, economic and international spheres and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to expand relations and deepen cooperation with Niger,” Zarif said.

Zarif said that the two countries can increase cooperation in areas of transportation, banking, agriculture and energy.
