TEHRAN – Iran plans to collaborate with Japan’s National Museum of Ethnology on cinema, Iran’s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization announced on Wednesday.

The plan has recently been discussed in Iranian cultural attaché Hossein Divsalar’s meeting with Kenji Kuroda, the curator of the Middle East section of the museum in Osaka.

They agreed that the museum will provide the necessary support for Iran to screen a selection of films with Japanese subtitles at various events in the country.

Based on the agreement, a lineup of Iranian films will be screened at the Osaka Asian Film Festival, which is scheduled to be held from March 8 to 17.

Among the films is filmmaker Masud Taheri’s latest documentary “The Eastern” that is about Japanese expert on religions Toshihiko Izutsu (1914–1993).
