The Super Blood Wolf Moon of 2019

January 23, 2019 - 10:29

On January 20, 2019, the moon passed through Earth's shadow in a total lunar eclipse during the Full Wolf Moon, which is also a "Supermoon."

Although it was a total eclipse, the moon never went completely dark but rather took on a coppery red glow - called a Blood Moon. It was also a full Moon that is especially close to Earth, called a Supermoon. And since it appears in January, when wolves howled in hunger outside villages, it has also earned the name Wolf Moon.
