Some Rls.150b Investment to Be Made in Arg-Jadid SEZ

TEHRAN Managing Director of Arg-Jadid Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Masood Fazel told reporters here on Saturday that to expand vehicle part manufacture industries $10 million plus Rls. 150 billion investment is to be made in the zone. Fazel said that Rls.300 billion investment has been made by SEZs and Rls.350 billion by private sector in the tourism, industry and infrastructure sectors since 1993. He said to expand investment in SEZs a bill is to be passed which permits the zones to generalize the laws concerning the free trade zones to other SEZs. He added that Arg-Jadid has the capacity of hosting one million tourists.

Last year 200,000 people visited Arg-Bam, Fazel said. Under planning made, it is to export 500 vehicles from Arg-Jadid SEZ by the year end on March 20, 2000, said Fazel, adding that 115 vehicles are to be exported to Dubai. He said to provide necessary facilities and halls for the seminar of dialogue amongst civilizations in the year 2001, Rls.50 million in credit has been set aside to prepare such facilities in Arg-Jadid of Bam.
