TEHRAN PAPERS:

Iran and the opportunity of Africa and Latin America

April 9, 2023 - 7:51

Writing in the Hamshahri newspaper, the head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization points to Iran’s foreign policy in Latin America and Africa, saying: The inherent desire of the socialist chain formed in Latin America (which was known as America’s backyard for a long time) in cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and also valuable cultural, civilizational, economic and political cooperation of African countries with our country (as an irreplaceable power in the West Asian region) should not be ignored.

During the years of cultural activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Latin America and Africa and the result of them, there is great evidence of the great importance of this cooperation, which shows the necessity of developing the presence in these regions.

On the one hand, our strategic connection with Latin America and African actors is an example of our balanced foreign policy and on the other it is considered a factor to curb the interventionism and hegemony of enemies in various regions of the world.  This synergy will definitely provide the opportunity to create new ideas with the aim of achieving unique joint opportunities (in all dimensions).  Exactly this is what the West is afraid of its realization in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Sharq: Baku’s aims from tension escalation

In a commentary, the Sharq newspaper analyzes the reasons behind Baku’s hostile positions and behavior against Tehran. It says: the first goal is to try to create a situation that Baku can impose the imaginary corridor of Zangezur on the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Armenia.  The second goal is to create a basis for justifying the political, security, diplomatic, military and defense relations between Baku and Tel Aviv, especially in the Karabakh region.  But the third goal is to find a pretext to face a movement like Hosseinion in the Republic of Azerbaijan. On the other hand, apart from the three mentioned goals, Baku is trying to achieve a larger goal and that is taking the upper hand in managing developments in Karabakh and the South Caucasus region by misusing the complicated situations that Russia and Iran are facing.  Russia is involved in the Ukraine war and Iran is facing special conditions at home and abroad.  Such conditions in Iran and Russia have prompted Baku to think that it has the best opportunity to carry out its desired goals in the region.

Etemad: Green light to the end of war in Yemen

In an analysis, Etemad discussed the resumption of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia and its impact on other cases. It wrote: Riyadh is determined that by ending the war in Yemen and reaching a political solution to restore peace to Yemen, it will set the basis to establish and provide complete peace and security in the Arabian Peninsula and work in a better situation to achieve its desired goals. Saudi Arabia’s agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia’s agreement with Yemen’s Ansarullah are complementary to each other.  Without reaching an agreement with Tehran and pursuing de-escalation between Saudi Arabia and Iran, the possibility of reaching an agreement with Ansarullah was very small, and if Saudi Arabia tried to end the war in Yemen and make peace with Ansarullah without an agreement with Iran, it would not be able to achieve its goal of establishing peace in the region.

Kayhan: Resistance Front and the Israeli regime
In its editorial, Kayhan pointed to the situation of Israel and the Resistance Front’s plan against it. The paper said: The Resistance Front, not today but long ago, has prepared and made detailed preparations for any kind of serious military confrontation.  As an obvious example, imagine what the small Israeli army would do against a simultaneous attack by thousands of powerful drones, while U.S. officials have expressed inability against stray drone attacks and announced the decline of 70 years of air superiority and also how many fronts will come up?!  At the same time, the Resistance Front does not play in the opponent’s field, but advances its plan with dignity and patience.  In this plan, the work has gone beyond pure retaliation and the Zionist regime is constantly pushed towards gradual decline.  In the strategy of the Resistance Front, Netanyahu’s mistake, for example, in martyring two Iranian military advisors in the outskirts of Damascus, is not answered necessarily by firing rockets and a complicated military shift.  Rather, this punishment can be erosive and continuous, like the strike in the Al-Hamra Ghor area in the West Bank that resulted in the death of three Zionist forces.  In the past three months, 19 Zionists have been killed and 133 others have been injured in these operations inside the occupied territories under complete security siege.

Sobh-e-No: New order in the region
In a report, the Sobh-e-No newspaper discussed the renewal of the relationship between Iran and Saudi Arabia and wrote: Once again, Iran and Saudi Arabia started official meetings in Beijing and reached agreements that can create a new order in West Asia and even larger world and a model for the resolution of conflicts and discords should be through the mediation of pragmatic countries without the interference of America and the West.
