US put on trial for the 2024 Kerman terrorist attack
TEHRAN - A court hearing was held about the United States’ complicity in the terrorist attack by ISIS operatives in the southeastern Iranian city of Kerman on January 3, 2024, as people were marking four years since General Qassem Soleimani had been assassinated.
In the terror attack, 97 people, including women and children, were killed, and 211 others were injured. Two explosions happened near the burial place of General Soleimani, the legendary commander of the IRGC Quds Force, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad airport on January 3, 2020.
The United States was put on trial in absentia because the country is the main financier and intelligence provider of the ISIS terrorist group, also called Daesh in Arabic.
At the court hearing, first, at the request of the lawyer representing the families of the victims, a video of the terrorist attack was broadcast.
The lawyer said the hearing highlights the voice of children who lost their fathers and mothers, as well as the grieving mothers who lost their children.
“We want to announce to the world that the blood of innocent people cannot be a tool for political purposes,” the lawyer said.
The lawyer presented “credible documents” showing the “connection between terrorist groups like Daesh with foreign countries,” particularly the United States, that “facilitated the grounds for this crime through political, financial, and intelligence support.”
He also said, “Definitely, this court can serve as a unique example for the campaign against global terrorism.”
The judge said this video clearly shows that the U.S. President (Donald Trump) openly acknowledges that “we created Daesh”.
The creation of a terrorist group that caused grief for tens of families is a document for the court to hold the U.S. responsible for, the judge said, adding the second point is that arms and ammunition that were provided to this group by the U.S. show that ISIS is directly backed by the U.S.
