Iran's Customs Administration Calls For Expansion of Cooperation With World Custom Houses

TEHRAN Head of Iran's Customs Administration Mahdi Karbassian cabled on Saturday a message to the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) on the occasion of Customs World Day and called for expansion of cooperation with the world custom houses.

According to the Public Relations Department of Iran's Customs House, Karbassian in the message has underlined that the world custom houses affected by massive developments at global economy have experienced rapid changes and should undergo continual renovation to keep up with these developments.

He referred to the recent developments in Iran's Customs Administration such as computerizing the major ground, sea and aerial customs houses in a bid to streamline related formalities, and stressed that the improvement of the customs mechanism would continue in the future.

Elsewhere in his message, Karbassian has said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been burdened with heavy costs due to its campaign against transit of narcotics to European countries and shoulders a heavy responsibility on this sensitive issue.
