COLOMBO -- Demonstrators demanding Britain ban Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger rebels handed over a petition to the British High Commission in Colombo on Tuesday after a lackluster protest march sponsored by the government, Reuters reported. "This is a peaceful demonstration to demand that Britain ban the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam). If they don't we will take more drastic action," said Deputy Fisheries Minister Mervyn Silva, who led the march. Britain, Sri Lanka's former colonial ruler, enacted a new anti-terrorism law last week but has yet to announce the list of organizations proscribed under it.
