SYDNEY -- The surviving member of an ethnic Filipino family murdered in their Australian home spoke at a funeral service for his slain father, mother and teenage sister, Reuters reported on Friday.

Lawyer Teodoro Gonzales, 46, his 43-year-old wife Mary and daughter Clodine, 18, were stabbed to death in their home in Sydney's northwestern suburbs on July 10.

Sef Gonzales, who found his family dead, said his father had promised to tell him the meaning of his first name at his 21st birthday in September.

"I will never find out the meaning of my name because it was taken away along with my father," Sef Gonzales told more than 100 mourners at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in suburban Ryde, not far from the Gonzales family home.

"That part of me will always be incomplete, along with so many other parts of my life that only papa can give."

Police have still not established a motive for the crime, despite early media reports that a racial slur was found scrawled on a wall. Police have appealed to the public for information about Clodine Gonzales' movements on the day of the attack.

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has said the murder of the Gonzales family served as a reminder to the millions of Filipino workers living abroad of "the dangers and other travails" they face.
