Iran Youth Chess Contests Start

SHIRAZ, Fars Province The nationwide Youth Chess Championship contests started here on July 22. A number of 130 chess players, aged 18 to 20, will represent different provinces of Iran in the week-long competitions, which are to be held in nine rounds and based on the Swiss style. Talking to IRNA, head of Fars Province Chess Board said, "Some of the provincial manufacturing companies and executive organizations have cooperated to organize the tournament." Hassan Abassi-Far added that the participants would visit the monuments of Fars Province during the event." The top players of the competitions will be selected as the national members of Iran to take part in the Asian contests, which are to be held in India in late August.
