TEHRAN - The summer migration of Ilam Province's nomads began this week. They are travelling from their winter residences toward their summer residences in the province's Mianband region and other regions, Hassan Ahmadi, the director general for Ilam Province Nomad Affairs, told IRNA on Tuesday.

Every spring, over 11,000 nomad families, together with more than three million heads of livestock, migrate from tropical regions to cooler pasturelands in northern Ilam Province and other neighboring provinces.

The nomads migrate from the tropical regions of Dasht-e Abbas, Dehloran, Mousian, Mehran, Ganjavan and Salehabad to the mountainous regions of Zagros, Dinarkouh and Kabirkouh.

The nomads of Lorestan, Hamedan, Kermanshah and other provinces also started their migrations in the past few days.

Ahmadi said that Ilam's nomads produce eight tons of various livestock products like meat and wool and dairy products like cheese, butter, shortening and whey.
