TEHRAN -- Canadian Ambassador to Tehran Philip McKinnon conferred here on Tuesday with Majlis Speaker Mahdi Karrubi on the expansion of parliamentary and economic cooperation between the two countries.

At the meeting, Karrubi called for expansion of Tehran-Ottawa ties and underlined, "Deepening of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Canada can help expansion of all-out bilateral relations." Since Tehran and Ottawa enjoy high potentials, they should take the opportunity to further expand mutual economic relations, he pointed out, IRNA reported.

underlining Ottawa's readiness to broaden ties with Iran, the Canadian ambassador, for his part, described the existing level of relations as 'satisfactory' and hoped to witness further expansion of bilateral cooperation in the future.

Canada attaches importance to having parliamentary cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and is ready to further broaden such ties, he said.
