TEHRAN -- The managing director of the Transportation and Traffic Organization of Tehran said, "The unmanaged development of Tehran and pollution has caused birds to migrate from this city. The only kind of birds which have remained in the city are crows, as they live in dirty and polluted environments." According to a report issued on Saturday by the public relations office of the organization, Hamid Behbahani said that urban transportation and traffic is one of the main subjects of urban management, adding, "The earth has not been created only for the present generation. Future generations also have the right to benefit from it." He added, "Sustainable development teaches us not to damage the environment and to use logical planning to manage the available resources."
He called sustainable development the main tenet of transportation and traffic and said that improving public transportation, especially completing and developing the subway, can play the main role in urban development.
