TEHRAN – During the process of vetting the legislative nominees, administrative commissions should act based on law and not ‘subjectively’, Alireza Afshar, head of election headquarters Thursday told the the seasonal congress of the Iran’s House of Parties.

“One of the effective ways to keep people politically active is forming political parties …and every dynamic society needs political parties.” Afshar said.
But parties should act within the framework of the country’s political outlook, he noted.
People want to know what plans parties have drawn up to realize the countries’ political objectives, Afshar added.
Pointing to the upcoming elections scheduled for March 14, he said some people made some comments on fairness of the elections, which were not in the national interest, he regretted.
Holding a fair election is at the top of officials’ agenda, he asserted.
“If it is proved that the administrative bodies have not acted objectively we can dissolve them,” Afshar noted.
Administrative bodies have not disqualified the candidates related to a specific party and some disqualifications have been made based on law, so if there is any thing wrong with the vetting, the election law should be amended, deputy interior minister for political affairs commented.
------------------- Results of rejected candidates’ appeals to be announced today
Today, the result of studying the appeals to the supervisory commissions by the rejected Majlis hopefuls would be declared to the governors’ offices across the country.
And according to the election law the governorates should brief the candidates on the results of the petitions for reconsidering their competence by the vetting bodies.
The candidates who have not been requalified at this stage are provided with the opportunity to protest to the supreme supervisory commissions and if they were not endorsed again, they can file their petitions to the Guardians Council.

The seasonal congress of the Iran’s House of Parties with the subject of ‘high turnout in the legislative elections’ was held in the Interior Ministry on Thursday.
In the gathering, Iran’s House of Parties’ Chairman Hossein Musavi Tabrizi called on all parties and candidates to act ethically and not disgrace or smear rival candidates.
Making reference to the nominees’ political campaigns for the parliamentary seats, Musavi Tabrizi said, “In their election campaign, the candidates should not blow things out of all proportion… because it leads to the incredibility of their election plans in the eyes of people.”
------------ Candidates of different political persuasions should be allowed to run
Head of the Reformists Coalition Abdolvahed Musavi-Lari said Thursday election is a symbol of people’s presence in the political scene and the ground should be prepared so that people turn out massively for the election.
Criticizing the disqualification of the reformist veteran political figures, he said officials say that some hopefuls have been disqualified and some other candidates have not been able to meet the standards set by the elections law.
“This is merely playing with words,” former interior minister told the House of Parties’ gathering.
“We should trust and respect people. They are wise enough to make a good judgment about the candidates,” Musavi-Lari asserted.
“When I used to hold the Interior Ministry, I made every effort to prepare the ground in a way that all competent candidates could contest the elections,” he said
