Iran’s ambassador to Russia has said the UN Security Council has been transformed into a tool for some countries to abuse their power.

“Security Council Resolution 1803 on Iran’s nuclear activities clearly indicates how this international organization has been changed into a tool for some countries to abuse their power,” Gholam-Reza Ansari said in an address to university students and professors at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations on Friday.
“There is no justification for the UN Security Council to examine Iran’s nuclear dossier when the latest IAEA Chief Mohammad ElBaradei’s report proves the legitimate and peaceful nature of the country’s nuclear activities as an NPT member,” he added.
The envoy pointed out that the U.S. and some other Western powers intend to portray Iran as a threat by misusing international organizations.
“The only reason for U.S. political disagreement with Iran is that the Islamic Republic has stood up against such powers’ ambitions and behaviors"" in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Middle East, he explained.
“How can managers of Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib prisons and the occupiers of Iraq propound human rights and democracy in the world?” the envoy asked.
Ansari noted that those who chant slogans about fighting terrorism and weapons of mass destruction are the founders of al-Qaeda and Taliban and possess the largest atomic plants in the world.
