TEHRAN (IRNA) -- The Islamic Republic of Iran and Cyprus on Saturday discussed ways to expand economic cooperation.
Head of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Mines (ICCIM) Mohammad Nahavandian discussed expansion of economic cooperation as well as rendering services with visiting officials from Cypriot Chamber of Commerce.Expansion of economic cooperation requires a tranquil and sound environment, Nahavandian said, adding, ""Unfortunately, in international markets, mainly in energy and foodstuffs sectors, the situation is very tense, therefore all should avoid creating fresh tensions.""
Since Cyprus is well-known for rendering services, both sides have favorable grounds for expanding ties in the field, he said.
The two countries may also broaden cooperation in housing construction, Nahavandian said.
