DUBAI (AP) – A prominent political activist in the United Arab Emirates says a pro-democracy advocate has been detained two days after authorities took a leading blogger into custody.

Mohammed al-Mansouri says Fahad Salem al-Shehhy was detained late Saturday in Ajman, an emirate north of Dubai.
Al-Shehhy participated in an online forum calling for democratic reforms in the UAE, an alliance of seven sheikdoms where political activity is severely restricted.
The forum is now blocked and had been run by Ahmed Mansour, who was arrested Friday after alleging that he received death threats for signing a petition in favor of an elected parliament.
The UAE has not been hit by the street uprisings across the Middle East.
