TEHRAN - The Iranian Red Crescent Society secretary general said on Thursday that Iran will send humanitarian aid to Yemen within the next two days.

The cargo which includes medical and food supplies is scheduled to be sent to Yemen through the Persian Gulf waters, Ali Asghar Ahmadi stated.

Pointing to actions taken by the IRCS in sending help to Yemen, Ahmadi said that Iran has sent aid to Yemen during recent weeks, but Saudi Arabia prevented the relief plane to land in the country.

He said that essential consultations have been held with some of the Persian Gulf littoral states to dispatch the relief ship to Yemen.

The issue has been coordinated with the Yemen Red Crescent Society and the International Committee of the Red Cross, Ahmadi said.

He added that necessary information has been e-mailed to the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.
