Top Iranian stage actors honored

TEHRAN -- Stage artists came together at Tehran’s City Theater Complex on Saturday night to participate in the 13th Iranian Stage Actors Celebration, which was organized by the Iranian Theater Forum to honor top actors of the past year.

Eight actors and actresses were awarded at the gala, which was stirred with criticism from artists about the government’s disregard for theater.

Farid Qobadipur was awarded for his role in “Terror” by director/writer Hamidreza Naeimi while Hassan Majuni war honored for his collaboration in “The Name”, a stage adaptation of “What’s in a Name” by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte.

Hesam Mansur for “Odyssey” by director Arash Dadgar and Saber Abar for “Caligula” by director Homayun Ghanizadeh also received awards.

Actresses Setareh Pesyani and Behnaz Jafari were honored for their collaboration in “Veronica’s Room” directed by Reza Servati.

Also presented with awards were Elham Korda for her role in “Hearing”, directed by Amir-Reza Kuhestani, and Giti Qasemi for her role in “Deliberately, Romantically, Ruthlessly” directed by Sanaz Bayan.

The celebration also honored the casts of the plays “Beizai” by Seyyed Mohammad Mosavat, “The Season for Sour Orange Blossom” by Gholamreza Arabi, “The Chairs” by Hossein Rahimi, “Vertigo” by Puya Sadeqi and Iman Sayyad-Borhani, and “In the Dock” by Amir Kaveh-Ahahaninjan.
Yalda Abbasi for her role in “Mother Courage and Her Children” and Davud Moinikia for his role “Thousands Lashes” were selected as Young Promising Actors.

The organizers also honored actors Akbar Zanjanpur and Sirus Ebrahimzade for their lifetime achievements.
