CASTELLANETA MARINA, Italy (AFP) – Tatiana Golovin, who was last seen passionately defending her red underwear at Wimbledon, was able to concentrate on her tennis on Saturday as she gave France the first point of their Fed Cup semifinal against Italy.

Golovin beat Tathiana Garbin 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 for her first career win over the experienced Italian. In front of a passionate local crowd at this hot and steamy southern Italian claycourt venue, Golovin broke in the second game of the first set to earn an early advantage while Garbin served up three successive double faults in the ninth game to compound her problems. Garbin broke serve twice in the second set to level the tie but Golovin eventually triumphed with her second match point
