TEHRAN – The renowned Iranian filmmaker Bahram Beizai’s 1979 movie “Ballad of Tara” will be screened at the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) in Tehran this evening.

The screening will be followed by a review session by Iranian critics Amir Puria and Keivan Kasirian.

The film is about a young widow, Tara, who returns to her village due to her grandfather’s death. She gives neighbors the grandfather’s belongings but there is an old sword that no one wants. One day she meets an ancient warrior who claims that the sword is his and he has been sent to the present time to take it back.

“Ballad of Tara” is the first Iranian film that competed in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival in 1980.
