TEHRAN Cyprus is really thankful to Iran for its solid stance toward a just and viable solution to the Cyprus problem based on a bicommunal, bizonal, federation with one sovereignty, personality and citizenship according to the relevant UN resolutions, said the Cypriot Ambassador to Iran, Marios P. Ieonymides.
"Economic relations between the two countries of Iran and Cyprus have been boosting," said he.
"Cypriot ministers of energy, and commerce, industry and tourism came to Iran a couple of months ago to discuss enhancement of bilateral ties in the stated fields," said the Cypriot ambassador, who was participating in an exclusive interview with the TEHRAN TIMES." Asked whether any Cypriot companies would participate in this edition of Tehran International Trade Fair, Mr. Ieonymides said they wouldn't but that with regard to the recent developments in the mutual ties between the two countries, he hoped Cypriot companies participate in the next year's exhibition.
Meanwhile, the fourth round of UN-led proximity talks between President Glaflos Glerides and Turkish-Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash are still on in New York.
Ieonymides said they were looking forward to a successful outcome which would lead to a viable and comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem based on the relevant UN resolutions.
"Pressure has yet to be exerted on Turkey so that her intransigence attitude will be changed and come to the negotiation table with the will to solve Cyprus question according to the international will," he concluded.
