Iran to Put Housing, Urban Development Projects to Tender

TEHRAN Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ali Abdolalizadeh said on Saturday Iran will carry out 1,250 urban development projects in Tehran at a cost of $7.8 billion.
Speaking at a news conference, he said the projects will be put on international tender during a conference due to be held in Tehran on October 17-18.
He said 30 foreign firms and 90 domestic firms operating in the construction sector will take part in the conference called investment in housing and urban development in Tehran'.
Abdolalizadeh said the conference is aimed at introducing the projects to the Iranian and foreign credit institutes and banks to attract investment and transfer of technology and engineering services required for implementing the projects.
He said construction firms from Germany, Britain, Italy, France, Holland, Denmark, Switzerland, South Korea, China, Australia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Syria and Ukraine are expected to take part in the conference.
Abdolalizadeh said the projects ranging from building highway, tunnels, bridges, hotels, business centers and housing complexes will be put to tender.
He said 21 Iranian ministries and several construction firms would present their plans to the conference for urban development.
The investment in the current year for construction of housing is estimated at $450 million and for the business and administrative centers at $1.2 billion, he said.
